Description
Villa Gelsi is a 200 year old farmhouse which we have completely restored to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 11 guests. Set in 1.5 acres, it takes its name from the majestic mulberry trees in the grounds around the house, which is approached along a private track up a hillside, through an archway of trees, ending in a large car park area.
The 12m x 6m pool has steps and a diving board at one end, and walk-in steps at the other. A solar shower provides ample hot water during the summer months.
For the chillier times of the year, central heating is installed throughout the house, with radiators in every room.
The property is about 55 minutes drive from Ancona airport, and is about a quarter of a mile from the nearest minor tarmac road. Complete privacy and tranquillity are just two of the delights of Villa Gelsi.
The neighbouring countryside is dotted with delightful medieval hill-top villages. The two local towns - San Lorenzo in Campo and Pergola are just a short drive away, and are as yet untouched by tourism. Both have bustling colourful weekly local markets plus local stores, and supermarkets.
Villa Gelsi and its guests are looked after by Hans, an English/Italian speaking Dutchman. He lives in the area, and manages all the letting logistics, including cleaning, washing, and maintenance, and is on hand to organise specific activities, as well as helping out as and when required.
Bed linen, towels, and pool towels (depending on the time of year) are provided on a per person basis as required.

Location description
Le Marche is a region of softly rolling hills, with the mountains to the west usually snow capped in the winter months. Attractive medieval walled hill towns are scattered all around, and when the sun goes down, their alluring, twinkling lights appear. This agricultural area is often described as the 'real Italy'.
The region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains, and much of it remains unspoilt by hordes of visitors.The property is about 55 minutes drive from Ancona airport, and is about a quarter of a mile from the nearest minor tarmac road. The Le Marche beaches are renowned for the cleanliness, and you can drive down to the sea and the pebble beaches of peaceful Marotta, with its favoured fish restaurants overlooking the Adriatic sea, or the broad, well organized beaches - sandy (at Senigallia), or pebble and sandy (at Fano) - in about 45 minutes. Here, in the medieval town centres, you can enjoy an aperitivo followed by sophisticated shopping and an opportunity to discover the delights of their stylish restaurants or pizzerie. Later, the many delicious Italian gelateria are difficult to resist. Wine tasting and traditional Italian dining can be arranged, and for the more energetic, activities such as tennis and horse riding are available in the local area.
Directions
The best and cheapest way to get to Villa Gelsi is to fly with Ryanair from London Stansted to Ancona Falconara. Ryanair currently have daily scheduled flights which arrive at Ancona at about 10.00 local time. Some days there are also later flights, arriving at about 21.30. Ancona boasts a new terminal which is rarely crowded. The drive to Villa Gelsi is about 55 minutes.
Bologna Marconi airport is a convenient touchdown for both the mainstream scheduled flights and budget airlines Ryanair and easyJet, but the drive is about two to two and a half hours to Villa Gelsi by car.
You can also fly with Ryanair from Stansted to Pescara (two and a half hours drive) and Perugia (one and three quarter hours) although the flight times are not so convenient, and flights are not always every day.
Both Alitalia (from London Heathrow, via Rome) and British Airways (direct from Gatwick) fly to and from Bologna Marconi.
