    The seaside resort of Javea or Xabia lies in a sheltered bay protected by the Montgo Massif mountain. The town is friendly and family-orientated with a large number of expatriates. The historic and picturesque old town is approx 2km inland from the port - which was used to export raisins in the 19th century. There are 9 different beaches along the coast, some of them pebbly and others sandy, including Arenal beach, large and family friendly, with crystal clear water and wonderful beach front restaurants and bars.
