Description
Les Gites Fleuris are 2 traditional Stone Perigordian Farmhouses with a breathtaking valley view. Your fully equipped holiday home is located in the Dordogne Region, on a quiet semi-private single lane road, that feels removed for life’s bustle, yet still walking distance to all amenities. La Wisteria is a traditional stone Perigordian Farmhouse with fully equipped kitchen and living room with large stone fireplace. The 3 bedrooms, all upstairs, have the traditional feature of beamed ceilings and fantastic views of the valley from the windows. There are 2 balconies, one enjoys the morning sun, and the other is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the valley. You have an outdoor dining terrace with barbecue, a wonderful place to relax over a home cooked meal! All linens and towels are provided. A central laundry room with washer, dryer, and drying racks are for your use.
The Pool and sundeck are in the large tranquil orchard, surrounded by grass, trees and flowers. In August and September we encourage you to pick and eat the fruit from the trees!
We are family friendly! You can enjoy the wonderful valley view while playing: ping-pong, badminton/volleyball, croquet, swinging on the swing set, or in the children’s raised fort with climbing wall. Also provided is an indoor game room with toys and ping-pong and children’s Disney videos. Babysitting is available for you to enjoy that romantic dinner out!
Only 2 km is the dramatic Chateau de Hautefort, a magnificent 17th C Chateau! Nearby are prehistoric sites, medieval villages, and castles. After a day of touring the sites, relax and enjoy the serene valley views from your terrace or the pool!
The surrounding countryside is rolling hills, with a mix of woodland and pasture, with superb views over the valley. The single track lane leading to the hamlet is a secondary route, thus there is almost no passing traffic. You can walk 1km to the local supermarket, an intermarche, that has a bakery, and butcher on site. As well as an international foods section, a biologic “organic” health section, a fish stand, and many other options. The villages of St Agnan and Hautefort have everything: banks, shops, cafes and restaurants. There are good restaurants in the villages and towns around us. We are not in the crowded “tourist” areas, so they are still very “French”, with their set menus of traditional regional cuisine. The Dordogne is famous for being a gastronomic paradise with wines to complement the cuisine. The gourmet specialties from this region are truffles, foie gras, confit de canard and wine from Bergerac and Bordeaux. There are also some very good vegetarian options available.
Fresh produce can be purchased at the local farmers markets that happen almost everyday of the week somewhere nearby! And in the Summer there are local night markets offering food, drinks, live music, dancing, and a nice ambiance!
The area is unspoilt with very little traffic, surrounded by farms and mother nature. The area abounds in natural lakes, with beaches, swimming and water sports activities. There are the world famous horse stables at Arnac-Pompadour.The numerous rivers that traverse the Dordogne offer spectacular scenery, cliff top villages and water sports activities including numerous canoeing centres. The Property is ideally located to explore the Region’s rich cultural history (prehistoric cave paintings, medieval castles and many excellent museums, including Les Eyzies, Limoges and Perigueux).
The very varied countryside provides a scenic background to each season: Summer – Swimming and sunbathing at the nearby lakes and beaches, or canoeing down one of the numerous rivers. Autumn – Mushroom hunting and exploring. Walnut harvesting Winter - Walking and Winter activities. Wood Burner. Spring - Spring flowers, truffles and local specialties.
