Description
6 Seatown, Lossiemouth is located in the middle of a row of 4. It is a traditional fisherman's cottage, built around 1850, and was originally a thatched bungalow.
Downstairs there is a large double bedroom with King size bed, a newly fitted bathroom (with shower over the bath) and a lounge. This has a wood-burning stove to keep the cottage warm on those long winter evenings, and opens out into the galley kitchen.
Upstairs there are 2 attic rooms. Because of their low ceilings, we have kitted these out as a children's twin room and a 'den' - complete with bean bags, a toy chest and a second TV and DVD player.
Outside there is a garden shed for storing your bike or paddleboard and a sheltered and secluded, enclosed garden.
The cottage is ideal for couples, or those with young families. It provides comfortable and cosy accommodation in an ideal location, just opposite the remains of the old bridge to the fabulous East Beach, with an easy walk to the woods along the river's edge.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but we do ask that they are not allowed on the furniture or in the bedroom. There is good WIFI and parking is on the gravel drive directly in front of the cottage.

Location description
Lossiemouth calls itself the 'Jewel of Moray' and as a holiday destination it is a real gem. This area boasts a higher than average number of sunshine hours, which may come as a pleasant surprise - we are in Scotland after all!
With 2 RAF bases in the vicinity, there are probably more restaurants, bars and entertainment venues than you would expect for a town of this size (although they are easily avoided if you want!). There are also local shops and a medium sized supermarket. For the 24 hour mega stores, you need to head 6 miles down the road to Elgin, where there is also a leisure centre with ice rink, cinema and bowling alley.
Moray stretches from the peaks of the Cairngorms down to beautiful beaches and picturesque fishing villages along the Moray Firth. Much of the landscape is dominated by the River Spey, the second longest and fastest flowing river in Scotland.
It also incorporates Speyside, home to around half the distilleries in Scotland. In fact, this area has the highest concentration of distilleries anywhere in the world. Many of them including such famous names as Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, The Macallan and Glen Moray welcome visitors with more information to be found on the Malt Whisky Trail. If you are visiting over the May Bank Holiday, look out for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival – whisky, music, food and fun, it’s a great way to meet other whisky lovers, whether you are a novice or a connoisseur!
Other activities
Take a boat trip to try and catch a glimpse of the Moray Firth's resident dolphins, or the other abundant marine and bird life.
Local events
Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival End April/May each year
Tourist attractions
Malt Whisky trail and it's distilleries, Johnstons Cashmere Visitor Centre, Elgin Cathedral, Brodie, Cawdor and Ballindalloch castles
Directions
With many budget airlines flying direct to Inverness and Aberdeen airports, and all the major hire car companies located at the airports, the cottage is easily accessible. It is about 45 minutes drive from Inverness and 1.5hours from Aberdeen along the main A96.
There are buses and trains in Elgin, but as the cottage is fairly rural, they are not necessarily the most frequent.

We first stayed at this wonderful cottage over 10 years ago. This little cottage is a wonderful old fisherman's house. The facility is lovingly arranged by the owners with attention to detail. Furniture is renewed regularly to keep everything in perfect condition. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bedroom is comfortable and in summer you can also use the small garden outside. Upon arrival there is a “welcome pack” with the first necessary groceries. A really nice tradition that has been going on for over 10 years.
Lossiemouth itself is in an ideal location for all kinds of excursions and, with its 2 long sandy beaches, offers the opportunity for long walks by the sea. There are many things to explore nearby. The Whiskey Country is on the doorstep, as is the coast with its varied little coastal towns. Inverness and Loch Ness are a 1.5-2 hour drive away and day trips to the Cairngorns can also be started from here.
All in all, 6 seatown is a pearl and you immediately feel at home.

It's an absolutely amazing cottage! Spent one week here Jan 2023. It was a delight. Amazing walks for me with the dogs and a great place to base yourself for sightseeing. Such a beautiful part of the country. Thanks!

6 Seatown is a beautiful character cottage right by the beach. All modern conveniences are included such as dishwasher, smart tv, washing machine, tumble dryer, range style cooker, rotary line and pegs and parking right outside the door.
There is a place to sit outside and a lovely little fenced cottage style garden.
There was a thoughtful welcome pack of groceries which included bread, butter, tea bags, milk and coffee to name a few of the items included which was appreciated after our journey.
It is a 5 minute walk to the new bridge which gives access to east beach although you can walk on the edge of the water directly from the cottage. We brought our little dog who loved the walks on the beach and down to the wooded area and hardly used our car.
We were sorry to leave after our weeks holiday so have booked again for next year but for 2 weeks.
It was lovely to meet Wendy the owner and everything has been thought of to ensure the comfort of her guests.
