Description
Centrally located in the Dordogne in Hautefort, only 2 km from the dramatic Chateau, is Les Gites Fleuris. La Petite Rose house is a traditional 18c stone Perigoridan farm house. The 1 bedroom home has a fully equipped kitchen, large fireplace, and ensuite bathroom. The salon has a sofa sleeper that can sleep 2. Your home has a TV, DVD and CD players, telephone, and wireless internet access. Relax at the pool, in the jacuzzi, or on a hammock, or stroll the property acreage of fruit and walnut trees. In August and September we encourage you to pick and eat the fruit from the trees!
We have had guests call it a "little paradise" here. And you will find that the calm surroundings and lovely location make it a perfect place for your vacation.
Visit the local Chateau, then enjoy swimming, hiking, biking, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, croquet, and within 1 km basketball, tennis, soccer, bocce, canoeing, fishing, etc... And during the summer months, once a week, walk up to our local village's night market and enjoy live music, food and shopping.
The surrounding countryside is rolling hills, with a mix of woodland and pasture, with superb views over the valley. The single track lane leading to the hamlet is a secondary route, thus there is almost no passing traffic. You can walk 1km to the local supermarket, an intermarche, that has a bakery, and butcher on site. As well as an international foods section, a biologic health section, a fish stand, and many other options. The villages of St Agnan and Hautefort have everything: banks, shops, cafes and restaurants. There are good restaurants in the villages and towns around us. We are not in the crowded “tourist” areas, so they are still very “French”, with their set menus of traditional regional cuisine. The Dordogne is famous for being a gastronomic paradise with wines to complement the cuisine. The gourmet specialties from this region are truffles, foie gras, confit de canard and wine from Bergerac and Bordeaux. There are also some very good vegetarian options available.
Fresh produce can be purchased at the local farmers markets that happen almost everyday of the week somewhere nearby! And in the Summer there are local night markets offering food, drinks, live music, dancing, and a nice ambiance!
